Acetal thermoplastics, also known as polyacetal, polytrioxane, polyformaldehyde, and paraformaldehyde, as well as Duponts branded Delrin offer exceptional engineering properties and are often used as metal replacements.

Acetals are considered ideal engineering materials because of their excellent mechanical and thermal properties. These highly crystalline thermoplastics have a high melting point as well as exceptional surface lubricity against metal, ceramics and other plastics. They also exhibit high strength, stiffness, toughness and creep resistance over a wide range of loads and temperatures.

Typical applications include nuts, bolts and washers as well as a wide range of low cost, light weight, mechanical parts for general applications such as cobs, levers, mechanisms and sprockets. Acetal is also popular for hygiene sensitive applications such as the food, medical, pharmaceutical and hi-tech bio-technology sectors.
